Halloween Reminders
Halloween is just around the corner! As a reminder, our school follows CBE nutrition guidelines and, therefore, candy, treats, and other food items may not be distributed at school. We appreciate your support in helping us maintain healthy school environments for all students.
Students may dress up in costume on October 30. We encourage creativity and fun while ensuring costumes remain appropriate for a school setting. Please remember that costumes must be:
- Respectful and inclusive of all cultures, identities, and beliefs.
- Free of masks that cover the face
- Free of weapons or weapon replicas
- Free of violent, graphic, or gory themes
We look forward to seeing our students showcase their creativity and school spirit!
Playground Fundraising Project Donations
Thank you to our incredible W.O. Mitchell school community for your continued support of our Playground Fundraising Project!
Through grant applications and community donations, we have raised over $265,000 toward our $415,000 fundraising goal! This is an exciting milestone, bringing us closer to creating a welcoming, engaging, and inclusive outdoor play space for current and future W.O. Mitchell students.
Our goal is to raise the remaining $150,000 by the end of the school year, supporting our plans for playground installation during the summer months.
We would like to thank the Cook, Bieber, and Gemeroy families for their recent contributions to the project.
Every contribution brings us one step closer to making this vision a reality. Thank you for your ongoing generosity, partnership, and commitment to our school community!

Fundraising Updates & Casino Volunteers Needed!
Hola W.O. Mitchell Families,
Our W.O. Mitchell School Council and Parent Society are reaching out with an important volunteer opportunity and updates on our fundraising initiatives.
Casino Fundraiser – We Need Your Support!
Our upcoming casino fundraiser takes place on November 11 and 12, 2026, at Cowboys Casino. This is our school's largest fundraising opportunity, with the potential to raise more than $60,000 to support student learning opportunities, resources, and school initiatives.
We currently need seven additional volunteers for the evening shift on Thursday, November 12. Filling these remaining positions is essential to ensuring that our Parent Society can successfully participate in this important fundraising event. Without sufficient volunteer coverage, our ability to proceed with this fundraising opportunity may be at risk.
If you are available to volunteer, or know a family member, friend, neighbour, or community member who may be interested in helping, we would greatly appreciate your support.
Casino Details:
Dates: November 11 & 12, 2026
Location: Cowboys Casino, 421 12 Avenue SE, Calgary
Volunteers Needed: Seven positions on the evening of November 12
You do not require a police clearance to volunteer at our Casino Fundraiser
