Te Gustaria Saber? - Oct. 23-27 | Well-Being, Patrols, Clubs, Volunteers, Pickup, Fun Lunch, Absences, School Council
Queridas familias,
Today, our teachers are engaged in professional learning focusing on student well-being and how to promote well-being in the classroom as part of our Physical Education and Wellness curriculum. This has been a focus on our School Development Plan, and will continue to be addressed throughout the year.
AMA Pedestrian Patrollers
Our student patrollers have been hard at work training for patrolling pedestrians in the morning before school and at dismissal time. Weather permitting, we are planning on them to start their work this week. Please be on the lookout for our students in the crosswalk.
School Based Clubs
Some of our school based clubs have started already, and some will start soon. At this time, teachers are running a Running Club for our Grade 2 students, and a Newspaper Club for our Grade 3-5 students. Coming up on the first week of November, the Science Club will begin for interested Grade 4 and 5 students, and on the third week of November our Robotics Club will begin for interested students in Grade 4 and 5 as well. Other clubs will be offered over the rest of the school year.
Volunteers for Tennis Residency
Our tennis residency has started, and it’s off to a great start. Thank you to the parents who have volunteered this week. It has been great to see many of you helping in the gym. If you have security clearance and are able to help out, please go to the Signup Genius link, where you will find time slots set up according to the class schedule. Thank you to our wonderful school council for financially supporting this program!

Student Pick-Up
We understand that plans change and that sometimes parents run late when picking up their students. To ensure the security and safety of our students, we ask that you let the office know if you are running late or you have made arrangements with a family friend. We can only release students to individuals that are listed in our system or through an email to: womitchell@cbe.ab.ca Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Fun Lunches
The next Fun Lunch will take place on October 31 from Subway. Your last day to order will be Thursday October 26.
School Absences
Please remember to call the attendance line to let us know of your student’s absence – 403 777 6100 ext. 1. This not only helps us as we complete daily attendance, but is also a security concern in the case of emergencies. Just a gentle reminder to keep your student home if they are not feeling well.
WO Mitchell School Council
WO Council helps connect parents to the school and provides additional learning opportunities for all students. There are many ways to get involved that do not require you to hold a position on council. If you would like more information about getting connected or volunteer opportunities, please send an email to womparents@gmail.com The next meeting will be taking place on October 24 at 7pm. This will be a hybrid meeting with the option to attend in person or online via Microsoft Teams. Please use the following link for the meeting: https://school.cbe.ab.ca/school/womitchell/about-us/calendar/Pages/default.aspx.
With gratitude,
Erick Noriega,
Principal
