Queridas familias,

We had an amazing time on October 31, watching all of the students show off their costumes. In the afternoon, students had the opportunity to work with their buddy class and further their learning.

Veteran’s Food Drive

The Veterans Food Bank of Calgary is on now until November 8. We would appreciate any donations of non-perishable food and household items. The Veterans Food Bank is also accepting gift cards for grocery stores of $25/$50. Families can drop off any gift card donations at the office.

Photo Retakes – Optional

Lifetouch will have Fall Retakes available for online booking in the Calgary studio. This is an opportunity for families who would like the opportunity to retake an image and weren't able to do so at school.

Remembrance Day

We will be acknowledging Remembrance Day on November 8. The school will host an assembly in the gym at 10:45 am. Students who are members of organizations such as: Scouts, Brownies, Girl Guides, Cadets, etc. are welcome to wear their uniforms and be part of the Colour Guard. As well, if you have a member of your family who is a member of the armed forces (past or present), and wish to send a photo to be part of the assembly, please send a copy to the office. Please do not send the original one, as we don’t want it to get ruined.

Fall Break

All CBE schools will be closed during the Fall Break from November 10-14. Classes will resume on November 15, 2023.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Parent teacher conferences will be held on November 23 from 5:00 pm to 8:30 pm and on November 24 from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm. Conference booking will be open to parents on Monday November 6 at 12pm and will close on November 22 at 10pm using the link MyCBE. Please note that both days will be in-person. If you require an online option, please contact your homeroom teacher after you have booked in the system. They will arrange the online option for you.

Kindergarten (Rodriguez) – conferences will be available on Thursday during the day (Morning and Afternoon) as well. Kindergarten (Galvez) will be available on Thursday during the morning only, and then again in the evening. Both will be available on Friday.

Student Pick-Up

We understand that plans change and that sometimes parents run late when picking up their students. To ensure the security and safety of our students, we ask that you let the office know if you are running late or you have made arrangements with a family friend. We can only release students to individuals that are listed in our system or through an email to: womitchell@cbe.ab.ca Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Fun Lunches

The next Fun Lunch will take place on November 27 from Edo Japan. Your last day to order from Healthy Hunger is Thursday November 23.

School Absences

Please remember to call the attendance line to let us know of your student’s absence – 403 777 6100 ext. 1. This not only helps us as we complete daily attendance, but is also a security concern in the case of emergencies. Just a gentle reminder to keep your student home if they are not feeling well.

WO Mitchell School Council

WO Council helps connect parents to the school and provides additional learning opportunities for all students. There are many ways to get involved that do not require you to hold a position on council. If you would like more information about getting connected or volunteer opportunities, please send an email to womparents@gmail.com The next meeting will be taking place on November 21 at 7pm. This will be a hybrid meeting with the option to attend in person or online via Microsoft Teams.
