Te Gustaria Saber? Nov. 13-17 | Fall Break, Conferences, Fees, Pickup, Fun Lunches, Absences, Fundraisers, School Council

Queridas familias,

We have had a fabulous week at the school. Yesterday, we had a chance to commemorate Remembrance Day as well as National Indigenous Veteran’s Day. A big thank you to our guest, Warrant Officer Merino who shared his stories with us, as well to all our families who were able to join us. Today, our staff is engaged in a system-wide professional learning opportunity focused on Indigenous Education.

Fall Break

All CBE schools will be closed during the Fall Break from November 10-14. Classes will resume on November 15, 2023.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Parent teacher conferences will be held on November 23 from 5:00 pm to 8:30 pm and on November 24 from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm. Conferences will be open to parents on Monday November 6 at 12pm and will close on November 22 at 10pm using the link MyCBE/. Please note that both days will be in-person. If you require an online option, please contact your homeroom teacher after you have booked in the system. They will arrange the online option for you.

Kindergarten (Rodriguez) – conferences will be available on Thursday during the day (Morning and Afternoon) as well. Kindergarten (Galvez) will be available on Thursday during the morning only, and then again in the evening. Both will be available on Friday.

Lunchroom and Field Trips Fees

Parents, please be aware that the lunch supervision registration is now open. If your student stays at school over the lunch program, please register at MyCBE As well, all school-based fees will be populated in this portal as events happen. Please take note of the fees to pay them in a timely manner.

Student Pick-Up

We understand that plans change and that sometimes parents run late when picking up their students. To ensure the security and safety of our students, we ask that you let the office know if you are running late or you have made arrangements with a family friend. We can only release students to individuals that are listed in our system or through an email to: womitchell@cbe.ab.ca Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Fun Lunches

The next Fun Lunch will take place on November 27 from Edo Japan. Your last day to order is Thursday November 23.

School Absences

Please remember to call the attendance line to let us know of your student’s absence – 403 777 6100 ext. 1. This not only helps us as we complete daily attendance but is also a security concern in the case of emergencies. Just a gentle reminder to keep your student home if they are not feeling well.

Fundraisers

The School Council is running two separate fundraisers currently. Purdy’s chocolates can be ordered until Nov. 14. Winter Plants (Poinsettias, wreaths, etc.) can be ordered until Nov. 17. The order forms are attached here for your reference.

WO Mitchell School Council

WO Council helps connect parents to the school and provides additional learning opportunities for all students. There are many ways to get involved that do not require you to hold a position on council. If you would like more information about getting connected or volunteer opportunities, please send an email to womparents@gmail.com The next meeting will be taking place on November 21 at 7pm. This will be a hybrid meeting with the option to attend in person or online via Microsoft Teams. The Grade 4 team will be presenting for this meeting.

With gratitude,
Erick Noriega,
Principal
