This will be the last weekly email for the school year. At this time I want to thank all of our volunteers that have helped over the year. In particular, a BIG thank you to everyone who helped during today’s Sport’s Day! We wish you all a safe and happy summer!
Last day of School
Our last day of classes will be June 27, 2024. Please note that this day will follow a Friday schedule and students will be dismissed at 1:20 PM.
First Day of School 2024-2025
Teachers will return to school on August 26, 2024. On this day, you will receive a welcome back email from the school. On August 28, 2024 you will receive an email from your NEW homeroom teacher introducing themselves and letting you know which door they will meet your student for the first day of school on August 29, 2024.

Modular Units Removal
Alberta Education approved funding for the demolition of two modular classrooms at W. O. Mitchell School in March 2023 due to their poor condition. Demolition of the modulars reduces expensive recurring operating expenses (i.e., heat, electricity and maintenance). This summer, CBE will proceed with the demolitions. Safety measures will be taken to ensure the safety of students and community members who use the playground or school site while demolition occurs. This includes enclosing the area from the public and operating within specific hours according to municipal bylaws.
The work is anticipated to be completed by mid-September 2024. To ensure student safety during the beginning of the 2024-25 school year, precautions will be taken. This includes enclosing the construction area and working around school hours to avoid disrupting learning.

Lost and Found
As we approach the end of the school year, please encourage your student to check the lost and found tables. Items will not be available after June 27.
Lunchroom and Field Trips Fees
Parents, please be aware that the noon supervision registration is open. If your student stays at school over the lunch program, please register at MyCBE. As well, all school-based fees will be populated in this portal as events happen. Please take note of the fees to pay them in a timely manner.
WO Mitchell School Council
WO Council helps connect parents to the school and provides additional learning opportunities for all students. There are many ways to get involved that do not require you to hold a position on council.
