Queridas familias,
I hope you all had a wonderful Family Day weekend. All of our teachers had a chance to attend Teachers’ Convention on Thursday and Friday in order to increase their learning and professional skills. These skills will in turn have a positive effect on your student’s learning.
WO Mitchell Read-A-Thon
From March 1-14, School Council is hosting a Read-A-Thon to encourage a love of reading and support the Learning Commons! Each grade level will have reading goals and any kind of reading at home counts - listening to books too! Participating students will be entered to win draw prizes from the School Book Fair and the class with the most participation will be given new books for their classroom library. All pledges collected will be put towards purchasing books and supplies for our Learning Commons. Look for a package coming home with your child next week!
Scholastic Book Fair
Mark your calendars for our upcoming SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR!
It runs from March 19-22nd. It will be in person only this year, unfortunately there is no on-line option. Look forward to seeing you there.
Yearbook - 'Make it Happen'
The yearbook cover contest is back! The theme this year is "Make it happen / Haz que pase". Students can submit their best creations no later than March 18th. We love seeing our students' entries and where creativity can take them.
To "make it happen" means to make an effort and work hard for something we want to happen in our lives.
Ask your kids to think about their goals at school or at home - or anything that made them feel proud and happy, or something that they have accomplished. It could also be something that they want to start doing/pursuing or something that they really want to happen.
Encourage them to capture those goals in a drawing and submit the drawing to our yearbook cover contest by March 18th. Please see the attached poster for details.

WO Mitchell School Council
WO Council helps connect parents to the school and provides additional learning opportunities for all students. There are many ways to get involved that do not require you to hold a position on council. If you would like more information about getting connected or volunteer opportunities, please send an email to womparents@gmail.com The next meeting will be taking place on February 27 at 7pm. This will be an online meeting via Microsoft Teams. The school will share their School Planning Engagement with council members during this meeting.
