As we approach the last week of the calendar year, I want to express my gratitude towards our community.  This will be the last Te Gustaria Saber until the new year.  Wishing all of you a happy and safe holiday season!

 

Traditional Mexican Posada

Casa Mexico is inviting families to a traditional Mexican Posada on Saturday Dec. 16 from 6:00 PM – 11:00 PM at the Calgary Chinese Cultural Centre.

 

Handbell Concert

On December 19 Grade 5 students will be holding their annual handbell concert at 2pm.  Families as welcome to attend.

 

Holiday Hampers and Inn From the Cold Donations

A big thank you to those who were able to help with this cause.  We have been able to raise funds for our families in need this year.  If you would still like to donate we are still accepting donations until Monday December 18. We will be accepting food gift cards from any supermarket of your choice to help the many families in need this year.  We will also accept cash donations so that we can purchase gift cards with those funds.  Again, thank you so much for your continued support towards helping others in need.

 

Science Fair and Judges

Students in grade 4 and 5 have been working on their Science Fair Projects. The fair will take place Thursday, February 1 at 5:30pm at the school. For this event, we will need the support of parent volunteers to participate as judges. You do not have to have a child in the Science Fair to volunteer. If you are interested in volunteering as a judge in our Science Fair, there will be a brief meeting on Thursday, January 25 at 5:30pm in the Learning Commons. If you would like to participate, please contact Señora Eileen Abad at erabad@cbe.ab.ca.

 

Lunchroom and Field Trips Fees

Parents, please be aware that the noon supervision registration is now open. If your student stays at school over the lunch program, please register at https://sis.cbe.ab.ca/public/home.html As well, all school-based fees will be populated in this portal as events happen.  Please take note of the fees to pay them in a timely manner.

 

Fun lunches

The next Fun Lunch will take place on December 21 from OPA. Your last day to order is Saturday December 16.

 

WO Mitchell School Council 

WO Council helps connect parents to the school and provides additional learning opportunities for all students. There are many ways to get involved that do not require you to hold a position on council. If you would like more information about getting connected or volunteer opportunities, please send an email to womparents@gmail.com  The next meeting will be taking place on January 23 at 7pm.  This will be an online meeting via Microsoft Teams.  The Grade 2 team will be presenting for this meeting.
