Queridas familias,

It was wonderful to see many of you this week attending our Winter Musical. Our students did an amazing job, and we are grateful to all of you for your continued support with these events. Most of the piñatas have been sold now, but a few remain if you are interested. Just a reminder that the money raised from the sale will be used towards our Holiday Hampers.

AMA Patrollers

Our grade 4 and 5 AMA School Safety Patrollers are doing a great job serving the school community at the crosswalk by Silverstone Place before and after school. This week we were observed by the AMA representative and given very positive feedback. We are so proud of all of you!

Thank you to our School Council once again for providing T-shirts for our patrollers. The order will be going in very soon.

Drivers are reminded not to park within 5 meters of crosswalks and intersections.

Handbell Concert

On December 19 Grade 5 students will be holding their annual handbell concert at 2pm. Families as welcome to attend.

Holiday Hampers and Inn From the Cold Donations

As the holidays approach, we are conscious that we have families in our communities that have experienced financial struggles over the year. If you are a family who could benefit from a Holiday Hamper this coming holiday season, please send a message to Sr. Noriega to let the school know. Please know that this information will be kept confidential and only the numbers of families in need will be shared with our school council executive. Teachers will also share names of families that they believe would benefit. As it has been done in the past, I will contact families to determine if they would like the assistance.

For the Holiday Hampers we will be accepting food gift cards from any supermarket of your choice to help the many families in need this year. We will also accept cash donations so that we can purchase gift cards with those funds. We will be accepting your donations from November 27 – December 15. Again, thank you so much for your continued support towards helping others in need.

Science Fair and Judges

Students in grade 4 and 5 have been working on their Science Fair Projects. The fair will take place Thursday, February 1 at 5:30pm at the school. For this event, we will need the support of parent volunteers to participate as judges. You do not have to have a child in the Science Fair to volunteer. If you are interested in volunteering as a judge in our Science Fair, there will be a brief meeting on Thursday, January 25 at 5:30pm in the Learning Commons. If you would like to participate, please contact Señora Eileen Abad at erabad@cbe.ab.ca.

Lunchroom and Field Trips Fees

Parents, please be aware that the lunch supervision registration is now open. If your student stays at school over the lunch program, please register at MyCBE As well, all school-based fees will be populated in this portal as events happen. Please take note of the fees to pay them in a timely manner.

Fun Lunches

The next Fun Lunch will take place on December 21 from OPA. Your last day to order is Sunday December 17.

WO Mitchell School Council

WO Council helps connect parents to the school and provides additional learning opportunities for all students. There are many ways to get involved that do not require you to hold a position on council. If you would like more information about getting connected or volunteer opportunities, please send an email to womparents@gmail.com The next meeting will be taking place on January 23 at 7pm. This will be an online meeting via Microsoft Teams. The Grade 2 team will be presenting for this meeting.
