Queridas familias,
We have had a wonderful week at WOM. Our dance residency has started, and students are excited to show their dance moves as they practice their routines.
Havana Cuban Dance Residency
With the amazing support of our School Council, we have an upcoming physical education residency. Due to conflicting schedules, we have changed the dates for the residency. It will now take place from April 8-12 and April 22-26. Students will work with Havana Dance Company to learn some Latin dance moves. Over this time, we ask that students come prepared to participate in the dancing residency and that they wear clothes that will allow them to comfortably move in.
A brief showcase of the residency will be held on Friday April 26 at 12 pm. Parents are welcome to attend. Doors will open at 11:45 am.
Spring Musical
The Spring Musical is quickly approaching! Students in Grades 3, 4 and 5 will be performing on Wednesday April 17. There will be two performances. One at 2 pm, where students will attend as an audience. The second show will be at 7 pm. For both shows, doors will open 30 minutes before the show.
Message from the Learning Commons
A big thank you for the successful book fair and everyone’s support to make this event a success. Students were very grateful to have the opportunity to purchase some new reading materials. In addition, thank you for supporting your students throughout the Read-a-thon. The Learning Commons is very grateful and appreciative of your continued support.
Que Pasa
On Tuesday May 7, 2024, our grade 3 students have been invited to perform at Que Pasa, a collaborative Calgary Board of Education, International Spanish Academies Fine Arts Gala at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium. This unique experience will allow our students to share Spanish performances in a professional setting to a full house of families from across the city. The performances will include all Spanish Bilingual program schools from elementary to high school! The audience will be treated to various choral, band music, dance and other performances that celebrate the beauty of the Hispanic language and culture. This event will be an exceptional opportunity for all. The performance will begin at 1 pm.
Tickets for the event will be offered to families at $15.00. Please note that young children cannot sit on laps and must hold a valid ticket to enter the Jubilee Auditorium. As there will be over 650 students performing at the event, limited seating will be available. Performers/Volunteers do not require a ticket.
Ticket purchases will be limited to 4 per family. Tickets will go on sale online through Ticketmaster today, Friday, April 12th at 7:00 pm.
