Queridas familias
It has been a joy to visit classrooms this week, and see students deeply engaged in their work and listening to them communicate in Spanish. We look forward to their continued success over the school year!
Terry Fox Run
Unfortunately, we have had to postpone our Terry Fox Run for Monday September 23, 2024. We are happy to announce that we have passed our fund-raising goal of $1,140.00. As of now, we have raised an amazing $2100! Thank you to all families who made this possible.
Update | Modular Demolition at W. O. Mitchell School – Message from the Calgary Board of Education
We wanted to update you on the project timeline as we complete work at your school from the modular demolitions that took place this summer.
The old modulars have been demolished. The final landscaping will take a few weeks longer than we initially communicated. Crews will be working to complete the final landscaping work, including paving the area where the modular units once stood. We expect all work to be completed and crews to be offsite by early October.
Crews are working closely with school administration to ensure no work is being completed when students may be outdoors or when it impacts the school day. Measures will continue to be taken to ensure the safety of students and community members using the school site during this time.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding this month as work occurred at your school. If you have any questions about this project, you may email accommodation@cbe.ab.ca.

CBE Forms
We understand that MyCBE might have had experienced some technical issues over the past few weeks, and may have made it difficult to complete the required forms (Demographic Verification 2024-25 and Annual Authorization 2024-25). If you have not had a chance to complete these forms, please do so as soon as possible. If you need assistance, please contact the main office.
Healthy Start to School
With the return to school and the upcoming flu season please do everything you can to keep your child safe from illness, including the latest coronavirus variant. The CBE takes the health and safety of our students and staff seriously.
In all matters of health, CBE takes direction from Alberta Education and Alberta Health Services. The following health measures can reduce the spread and lessen the impact of illness in school communities. These include:
- stay home when feeling sick;
- if possible, avoid close contact with people who are sick;
- wash hands frequently with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds or use alcohol-based hand sanitizer;
- cover your cough;
- avoid touching eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands; and
- clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces and items at home, especially when someone in your home is sick.
Alberta Health Services has a respiratory assessment tool to provide Albertans with guidance to manage a wide range of respiratory illnesses, and provide advice on caring for symptoms at home, and when to seek additional care.
