Queridas familias

Our students are now used to following their new classroom routines and they are well on their way to a fabulous school year!

We want to ensure that all our students come to school every day unless they are sick or have important medical appointments. Students who attend school regularly are more likely to graduate from high school, setting the stage for future success in higher education and the workforce. This emphasizes the long-term benefits of instilling a sense of responsibility and accountability through regular attendance. If your child is experiencing some difficulty coming to school, please contact their teacher at your earlier convenience to discuss what could be done to help improve their attendance. We want to ensure that all our students feel welcome in our school and have a sense of wellbeing during their school day.

Parents often ask me how they can support their child's literacy skills at home.  I encourage all parents/guardians to talk, read, and write with their child every day.  For example, writing a grocery list or writing about a dream that they have will support their writing skills.  Nightly reading before bed is a special moment with your child and will encourage them to work on their reading skills both at home and in school.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Con gratitud,
Sra. Lucie Lejeune,
Acting Principal

Weekly Reminders

School Absences

Please remember to call the attendance line to let us know of your student’s absence – 403 777 6100 ext. 1.  This not only helps us as we complete daily attendance but is also a security concern in the case of emergencies.  Just a gentle reminder to keep your students home if they are not feeling well.

MyCBE Account

This year the CBE will be using SchoolEngage to complete some of the necessary yearly forms.  In order to access SchoolEngage, you will require a MyCBE account.  If you do not have a MyCBE account, on the MyCBE page click on Create a MyCBE Account. For online help refer, to MyCBE - Creating an Account (includes instructions and a video).  The forms found in SchoolEngage include: Demographic Verification 2025-26 and Annual Authorization 2025-26.  If you plan to volunteer this school year, you can also fill out the Volunteer Registration Form.  Please ensure that these forms are completed by September 15, 2025.

Terry Fox Run | September 22

Time: 2:45 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

We are excited to announce that our annual Terry Fox Run will be held on September 22! This is a meaningful event where our students honour Terry’s legacy and help raise funds for cancer research.

Let’s Keep the Momentum Going! Thanks to the generosity of our school community, we’ve already raised $1,193.87! This year, we’re aiming even higher, $2,900!

We’ll be collecting Toonies for Terry from September 8th to 30th.

You can also donate online through our school’s Terry Fox fundraising page: https://schools.terryfox.ca/98255

Let’s work together to support cancer research and make a difference, just like Terry did.

Every Child Matters | Orange Shirt Day Assembly

On Thursday, September 25, we invite students wear an orange shirt to commemorate the residential school experience, to witness and honour the healing journey of the survivors and their families, and to commit to the ongoing process of reconciliation.  We will host an assembly in the morning to create awareness and to open the door to meaningful discussion about the effects of Residential Schools and the legacy they have left behind. Orange Shirt Day (formally on September 30) creates bridges with each other for reconciliation. Every Child Matters.

Meet-the-Teacher Afternoon

Please join us on September 26 for our annual Meet the Teacher event.  This is an informal opportunity to meet your homeroom teachers and build community at the school.  This year, the School Council has coordinated with YYC Food Trucks to be on site and will be available from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm.  Teachers will be in their classroom from 2 pm to 3 pm to meet families.  There will be two 20-minute information sessions in your student's homeroom.  The first will start at 2 pm, and the second will start at 2:30 pm.  From 3:00 to 4:00 pm, you are invited to stay for the School Council and Parent Society AGM.

A reminder that if you would like any information about our School Council or Parent Society, or would like to volunteer with the Apple Fundraiser with them, you can reach them at:  womparents@gmail.com
