Queridas familias,

It’s hard to believe that we have come to the end of October already! Thank you for your continued support as we progress over the year full of learning!

Gaga Ball Pit

With the amazing support from our School Council and Parent Society we have been able to purchase a new gaga ball pit.  As a new piece of equipment, we will introduce the pit to students, and students will have two scheduled opportunities to use it over the week during recesses.  Teachers will communicate to students which days they are able to use the gaga ball pit over the week.

Lacrosse Residency

We continue our lacrosse residency over the next week (Oct. 28-31).  Please ensure that your student is wearing appropriate clothes and shoes to participate.

Individualized Program Plans (IPP)

If you have not had the opportunity to send back the signature page of your IPP, please do so as soon as possible.

Winter is Here!

With the cold weather arriving, please make sure that your student comes to school dressed for the weather including toques and gloves.  Please make sure that you label their clothing in case it gets lost.

Lost and Found

We will be clearing up the lost and found at the end of October.  If your student has lost any clothing items, please make sure you check the lost and found before end of day on Wednesday October 30.  Items that have not been claimed after this date will be donated.

Lunchroom and Field Trips Fees

Parents, please be aware that the noon supervision registration is open. If your student stays at school over the lunch program, please register at MyCBE As well, all school-based fees will be populated in this portal as events happen.  Please take note of the fees to pay them in a timely manner.

Halloween Day

On Thursday October 31, we will host our Halloween day at school.  Students are welcome to wear their costumes to school.  Please remember, no weapons (swords, knives, guns, etc.) are allowed in the school, even if they are part of the whole costume.  In addition, students cannot have their faced covered, as we need to identify students at all times.  As well, please do not send candy to school, even as a snack for students.  Students are able to learn and focus better when they have a nutritious meal.

Scholastic Book Fair

We will hold school based book fair on November 26-29, 2024.  The times are as follows:

Tues 9-1:00

Wed 9 – 1:00

Thurs 9 – 8 pm

Fri 8:30 – 11:30

Yearbooks

We have a few extra yearbooks from last year.  If you missed the opportunity to order one, they are available in the office for $20.

We are happy to announce that we have Spirit Wear with our new logo available to purchase through our school website.  In addition, we have added shirts for Orange Shirt Day.  For more information, please visit:

Merchandise

We have been able to acquire a few samples for sizing.  If you would like to try a sample before ordering, please visit the office.  The turn-around time from order to picking up or sending the order is around 3 weeks.

Fun Lunch

The next Fun Lunch will take place on October 31 from Edo Japan.  Please note that orders will close 5 days before the date.

WO Mitchell School Council

WO Council helps connect parents to the school and provides additional learning opportunities for all students. There are many ways to get involved that do not require you to hold a position on council. If you would like more information about getting connected or volunteer opportunities, please send an email to womparents@gmail.com  The next meeting for School Council and the Parent Society will take place on Nov. 19, 2024 at 7pm.  This will be a hybrid meeting with the opportunity to join via Microsoft Teams. The Grade 5 team will be presenting during this meeting.

With gratitude,

Erick Noriega,

Principal
