Queridas familias

Although it was a short week, this has been a busy week! Students are engaged and excited to continue their work in classrooms.

Gaga Ball Pit

With the amazing support from our School Council and Parent Society we have been able to purchase a new gaga ball pit.  The pit will be installed on October 23 on the new asphalt pad by the basketball courts.  During the installation date, there will be some traffic coming in and out of the field.  Please be aware of traffic during drop off and pick up times.  Once installation is complete, students will be guided on the use of new equipment.

Lacrosse Residency

Again, with the amazing support from our School Council and Parent Society we are happy to announce that students will participate in a lacrosse residency over the next two weeks (Oct. 21-24 and Oct. 28-31).  Please ensure that your student is wearing appropriate clothes and shoes to participate.

Individualized Program Plans (IPP)

If you have not had the opportunity to send back the signature page of your IPP, please do so as soon as possible.

Lunchroom and Field Trips Fees

Parents, please be aware that the lunch supervision registration is open. If your student stays at school over the lunch program, please register at MyCBE. As well, all school-based fees will be populated in this portal as events happen.  Please take note of the fees to pay them in a timely manner.

Halloween Day

On Thursday October 31, we will host our Halloween day at school.  Students are welcome to wear their costumes to school.  Please remember, no weapons (swords, knives, guns, etc.) are allowed in the school, even if they are part of the whole costume.  In addition, students cannot have their faced covered, as we need to identify students at all times.  As well, please do not send candy to school, even as a snack for students.  Students are able to learn and focus better when they have a nutritious meal.

Scholastic Book Fair

We will hold school based book fair on November 26-29, 2024.  The times are as follows:

Tues 9-1:00

Wed 9 – 1:00

Thurs 9 – 8 pm

Fri 8:30 – 11:30

Yearbooks

We have a few extra yearbooks from last year.  If you missed the opportunity to order one, they are available in the office for $20.

AMA Pedestrian Patrollers

Our student patrollers have been hard at work training for patrolling pedestrians in the morning before school and at dismissal time.  Please be on the lookout for our students in the crosswalk by the playground.

School Spirit Wear

We are happy to announce that we have Spirit Wear with our new logo available to purchase through our school website.  In addition, we have added shirts for Orange Shirt Day.  For more information, please visit our Merchandise page.

We have been able to acquire a few samples for sizing.  If you would like to try a sample before ordering, please visit the office.  The turn-around time from order to picking up or sending the order is around 3 weeks.

Fun Lunch

The next Fun Lunch will take place on October 31 from Edo Japan.  Please note that orders will close 5 days before the date.

WO Mitchell School Council

WO Council helps connect parents to the school and provides additional learning opportunities for all students. There are many ways to get involved that do not require you to hold a position on council. If you would like more information about getting connected or volunteer opportunities, please send an email to womparents@gmail.com  The next meeting for School Council and the Parent Society will take place on October 22, 2024 at 7pm.  This will be a hybrid meeting with the opportunity to join via Microsoft Teams.

With gratitude,

Erick Noriega,

Principal
