Queridas familias,
I am writing to share an update regarding the Assistant Principal position at our school.
Beginning June 1, and continuing for the remainder of the school year, Sra. Paulina Villarreal will assume the role of Acting Assistant Principal.
We are pleased to welcome Sra. Villarreal into this leadership role. Sra. Villarreal is a valued member of our school community and brings strong relationships, professionalism, and a deep commitment to student learning and well-being. We are confident she will provide excellent support to students, staff, and families during this transition.
To ensure a smooth transition, the following plan is in place:
May 25 – May 29
Sra. Villarreal will work closely with Sra. Moreau to ensure continuity of school routines, operations, and student supports.
While serving in the Acting Assistant Principal role, Paulina will also continue supporting classrooms in implementing literacy strategies using the Neurolinguistic Approach to language acquisition.
Please join me in congratulating Paulina on this new role and welcoming her to the administrative team.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership.
Mike Scott
Principal
Jump Rope for Heart
Jump Rope 4 Heart is a program that encourages students to get active by jumping rope while raising money for heart and brain research. It is a way for students to learn about healthy habits and the importance of physical activity as part of living a healthy lifestyle. As part of our wellness curriculum, students will practice skipping, learn about healthy foods, and heart health.
The program will kick off on May 20 and will run until June 19, 2026. Our goal is to raise $2000. This year we will be doing online donation only. Families may choose to create their own online account for their child using the QR code sent home or may donate through the school website: https://jumpropeforheart.crowdchange.ca/119333
Each week we will have a goal of raising $400 with fun Spirit Booster Activities.
Weekly Spirit Boosters:
- May 22: PJ Day
- May 29: Picnic outside for super snack
- June 5: Crazy Hair Day
- June 12: Heart Display
- June 19: Wear Red
On June 19, 2026, we will come together as a school to celebrate Jump Rope 4 Heart in combination with Sports day.

A Message from the Learning Commons
It’s that time of year for our books to hibernate with their friends — the big overdue book round-up!
Please take a moment to check your child’s CBE eLibrary account for any borrowed or overdue books. Families can log in through the CBE eLibrary Parent Support Portal using:
- Username: Student CBE ID (same as your MyCBE account)
- Password: Same password used for Google Classroom
We kindly ask that overdue books be returned as soon as possible. If a book cannot be located, please contact us to discuss replacement options.
For assistance checking your account or discussing replacement options, please contact Jocelyn Hebert at jdhebert@cbe.ab.ca.
Thank you for your continued support in helping care for and maintain our Learning Commons collection!
Attention Grade 6 Families: My Transit Ride
In August, the CBE, CCSD and Calgary Transit will offer a transit bus orientation program called "My Transit Ride" for middle and high school students transitioning to Calgary Transit.
The program is about an hour long and consists of a 20-minute presentation by Calgary Transit, followed by an orientation of a transit bus. Staff from CBE Transportation, CCSD Transportation and Calgary Transit will be available for information and/or questions.
Sessions are free but families are encouraged to register to attend. Registration will open on Monday, May 25.
We are excited to offer this safety training and transit orientation to increase student comfort levels and ability to ride Calgary Transit safely and efficiently.
