Introduction of Our New Assistant Principal - Sra. Danielle Outhet

My name is Danielle Outhet and I am honoured to be joining W.O Mitchell School as Assistant Principal. I look forward to partnering with students, families, and staff to support student success and well-being.

I am a born and raised Calgarian. I learned Spanish through my grandparents, who were originally from Spain. I have been a teacher, learning leader, and Assistant Principal within the Spanish Bilingual Program for 20 years having been at both Escuela Collingwood and Escuela Dalhousie. Throughout my career in education, I have been passionate about creating inclusive, engaging, and supportive learning environments where every student feels valued and empowered to reach their full potential. I deeply believe in the importance of bilingual education and the many opportunities it provides students to develop language proficiency, cultural understanding, and global perspectives.

I am excited to become part of the W.O. Mitchell School family and to support the outstanding work already taking place within the Spanish Bilingual Program. I look forward to meeting you at upcoming school events, in classrooms, and throughout our school community.

Jump Rope for Heart

Way to go W.O.M! We are halfway to reach our goal to raise $2000. We have raised $1055 so far! Families may choose can continue to donate until June 19th through the school website: https://jumpropeforheart.crowdchange.ca/119333

Next week we encourage all students, teachers, and volunteers to wear red for our event day on June 19th.

We continue to need volunteers for our Jump Rope for Heart/Sports Day event on June 19th. We require 4-6 volunteers per class to work in shifts (30-60 minutes) depending on the availability of volunteers. Please contact your child’s teacher if interested in volunteering. Police clearance is a must.

Set up for Sports day will occur from 9:10-9:25 a.m. The event will start at 9:30 a.m. and will run until 12:10 p.m. Parent volunteers are asked to arrive 10 minutes before the scheduled time to sign at the office and allow time to find their station on the field.

After the event, students will transition to a have their super snack picnic outside and are encouraged to bring a beach towel to sit on while enjoying their snack.

Playground Fundraising

Our Cash Raffle fundraiser is back in support of the playground renovation!

This fundraiser has the potential to raise up to $15,000 for our new playground, but we need your help to get there. In our last raffle, more than $4,000 in potential fundraising was lost due to unsold tickets. Every ticket sold helps bring us closer to creating a safe, fun, and modern playground for our students.

Prizes: $3,000 and $1,000
Tickets: $20 each

*NEW* An Annual Family & Friends Pass to Heritage Park (valued at $229.95) will be given to the family that sells the most raffle tickets!

There are several easy ways to participate:

  • Purchase single tickets or request ticket booklets to sell by emailing WOMfundraising@gmail.com
  • Buy tickets with cash at the school office

Even selling a few tickets can make a big difference.

The draw will take place on the last day of school, June 26.

To donate to the playground project please donate directly to W.O. Mitchell Playground Fundraising Campaign. EducationMatters will issue donations receipts for donations of $20 or more.

Thank you for your ongoing support!

A Message from the Learning Commons

We kindly ask that overdue books be returned as soon as possible. If a book cannot be located, please contact us to discuss replacement options.
