Queridas familias
We have had a fantastic week at school. A huge thank you to all teachers and parents who were involved in our Science Fair last night. Students enjoyed sharing their projects and learning from each other.
Report Cards and IPPs
On January 27, your child’s report card will be available to view in your MyCBE account. The report card is one of the ways teachers communicate how your child is progressing in their learning. Teachers may also share learning progress through parent/teacher conferences, your child’s daily work and assignments, and other ongoing communication with you. If you have any questions, please contact your homeroom teacher.
IPP will be sent home on Monday January 27 as well. Please review the IPP and return the signature page by Thursday January 30.
Casino Time
Biennial casinos raise over $60,000 that goes directly towards W.O.M. teacher residencies, student experiences, school resources, and technology. To successfully run our casino and claim these funds, we need 40 volunteers to commit to a variety of shifts by February 28th. Food is included and no previous experience is necessary. Sign-up and meet new people, sign-up with friends and make it an event, or sign-up with your spouse to make it a date night!
When: Friday, March 14 & Saturday, March 15
Where: Cowboys Casino (218 18 Street SE)
Sign-up to volunteer: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70A0C4CADA722A3FC1-54530731-casino

Kindergarten and Grade 1 Registration
Our Kindergarten and Grade 1 registration opened on January 13, 2025. Our current KG students do not need to re-register. If you know of families who are looking for a Spanish Bilingual school, please let them know to check out our webpage for more information.
Gymnastics
Students will continue their gymnastics unit next week. Please ensure that your student is dressed appropriately for the type of activities and please refrain from wearing jewelry.
Drop-Off and Pick Up
Please remember to follow the rules of the road when dropping off your students. We have noticed an increase in students jaywalking across the street. In addition, parents please remember to respect the bus areas and the handicap zones. Parents cannot stop in those areas. As well, please be respectful of our neighbours and their driveways. Please do not block private driveways. Finally, please do not use the parking lot for drop off and pick up. This poses a safety risk for students and staff.
Chinook Learning Services
Chinook Learning Services offers courses specifically designed for parents and caregivers of CBE Spanish Bilingual students. For Winter 2025, Chinook Learning Services is offering Spanish for Parents – Level 1.
This eight-week course will help parents of bilingual students learn or refresh their Spanish language skills, build their network of bilingual parents, and support their children’s learning at home.
Check out the course description at Spanish For Parents Level 1

Lunchroom and Field Trips Fees
At this time, only a fraction of parents who use the lunchroom supervision program have paid their fees. Please ensure that you log into MyCBE in order to pay your fees. As well, all school-based fees will be populated in this portal as events happen. Please take note of the fees to pay them in a timely manner.

WO Mitchell School Council
WO Council helps connect parents to the school and provides additional learning opportunities for all students. There are many ways to get involved that do not require you to hold a position on council. If you would like more information about getting connected or volunteer opportunities, please send an email to womparents@gmail.com The next meeting for School Council and the Parent Society will take place on Feb. 18, 2025 at 7pm. This will be an online meeting via Microsoft Teams. The Grade 2 team will be presenting during this meeting.
