Planning for Next Year

As part of our planning for the 2026–27 school year, students will be invited next week to identify up to three classmates from their current grade who positively support their learning and well-being. We encourage you to have a conversation with your child about peers who help them learn, feel included, demonstrate positive leadership, and contribute to their success at school.

Over the coming month, teachers and school staff will work collaboratively to create balanced learning communities that support the academic, social, and emotional needs of all students. Student input is an important part of this process and will be carefully considered alongside professional knowledge of each learner and the overall needs of the grade level.

While we cannot guarantee specific class placements, staff will make every effort to ensure that students are placed with at least one of the classmates they identify. Final class placements are based on a variety of educational, social, and organizational considerations and are designed to create the most supportive and effective learning environment for all students.

Thank you for your ongoing partnership and support as we prepare for another successful school year.

Playground Fundraising

Our Cash Raffle fundraiser is back in support of the playground renovation!

This fundraiser has the potential to raise up to $15,000 for our new playground, but we need your help to get there. In our last raffle, more than $4,000 in potential fundraising was lost due to unsold tickets. Every ticket sold helps bring us closer to creating a safe, fun, and modern playground for our students.

Prizes: $3,000 and $1,000
Tickets: $20 each

*NEW* An Annual Family & Friends Pass to Heritage Park (valued at $229.95) will be given to the family that sells the most raffle tickets!

There are several easy ways to participate:

  • Purchase single tickets or request ticket booklets to sell by emailing WOMfundraising@gmail.com
  • Buy tickets with cash at the school office

Even selling a few tickets can make a big difference.

The draw will take place on the last day of school, June 26.

To donate to the playground project please donate directly to W.O. Mitchell Playground Fundraising Campaign. EducationMatters will issue donations receipts for donations of $20 or more.

Thank you for your ongoing support!

A Message from the Learning Commons

It’s that time of year for our books to hibernate with their friends — the big overdue book round-up!

Please take a moment to check your child’s CBE eLibrary account for any borrowed or overdue books. Families can log in through the CBE eLibrary Parent Support Portal using:

  • Username: Student CBE ID (same as your MyCBE account)
  • Password: Same password used for Google Classroom

We kindly ask that overdue books be returned as soon as possible. If a book cannot be located, please contact us to discuss replacement options.

For assistance checking your account or discussing replacement options, please contact Jocelyn Hebert at jdhebert@cbe.ab.ca.

Thank you for your continued support in helping care for and maintain our Learning Commons collection!
